Edwin van der Sar thinks David de Gea will leave Manchester United for Real Madrid – but believes he can be replaced.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper and Holland international reckons the Spaniard, who has been heavily linked with a £25million move to the La Liga giants, is on his way.

‘There’s been a lot of talk lately and if he wanted to stay he probably would have signed a new contract by now,’ Van der Sar said.

Real Madrid and Juventus could make Pogba and Di Maria Swap

Real Madrid

Real Madrid and Juventus are reportedly planning a swap deal involving Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria, a move that will scupper the plans of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Juventus would ideally like to keep hold of their star midfielder, but realise that is increasingly unlikely with all of the interest that the young Frenchman has gathered following his impressive World Cup.

Pogba has also shown no signs of wanting to extend his contract beyond 2016, so Juventus would be wise to cash in while he still retains value.

If Juventus are to sell Pogba, then boss Antonio Conte wants to reinvest the funds in a versatile forward so he can play a 4-3-3 system next season. Di Maria would fit the bill perfectly.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with a £40m move for Di Maria recently, whilst Manuel Pellegrini and Jose Mourinho seem determined to add Pogba to their sides. Madrid would rather retain Di Maria, but seem willing to sell him for around £40m.

These new reports suggest, however, that the Spanish giants would rather use their man to prise Pogba from the clutches of Juventus.

If reports are true and Juventus are keen on a switch for the Argentinian attacking midfielder then this would leave all interested Premier League parties disappointed.

Kroos says his decision is made

Real Madrid transfer target Toni Kroos says he has come to a decision over his future. The Germany international has been tipped to leave Bayern Munich this summer as he heads into the final year of his contract with the Bundesliga champions.

“I’ve made a decision,” Kroos told Munich newspaper TZ.

“First I want to play at the World Cup. When that is over my decision will be known. I still have a week.”

Kroos was linked earlier this year with Premier League side Manchester United. However, the appointment of former Bayern coach Louis van Gaal as manager at Old Trafford has seen United’s interest in him come to an end.

There appear to be two possible likelihoods. Either Kroos will see out his contract at Bayern, or he will join Real Madrid in a deal worth €25million (£19.9million; $34million).

However, former Germany international Lothar Matthaus thinks the decision will involve a move to Real Madrid and he thinks it will be great move for the European champions.

“Congratulations to Real Madrid, they’ve got themselves a genius there,” said Matthaus. “All the same, I’d have preferred him to stay at Munich.

“Toni is very intelligent, he passes the ball brilliantly and he can shoot hard and accurately, too. Ronaldo and Bale can really expand alongside him – Robben and Ribéry have in the past few years.

“He isn’t a central midfielder; he’s more of a false 9 who should go through the middle, behind the forwards. I can imagine Cristiano Ronaldo, Kroos and Bale together in that line of three behind Benzema. He is like Modric in that way, though Modric can play as a central midfielder and Kroos is not one of those”.

Kroos’s decision could have an effect on Real midfielder Sami Khedira. The Germany international will also decide his future after the World Cup.

Khedira is out of contract in 2015 and has been linked with interest from Premier League side Arsenal. However, the Madrid-based newspaper Marca claims that both the player and Real coach Carlo Ancelotti want him to remain at the Bernabeu and a new contract could be on the horizon.

Khedira missed much of last season through injury, though he returned for Real’s final three La Liga games of the season.
